Thanks to the swift action of the smart contract audit engineers at TheHackersPro, an American forensic firm, I was spared from losing over 650 BTC to a fake airdrop posing as an Arbitrum site. After presenting all transaction evidence to their team and Vladimir Kolarov, we realized the scam employed Arbitrum’s logos and graphics. The scam is highly deceptive, mimicking legitimate Arbitrum Foundation airdrops of ARB tokens. It’s vital to understand that this scam is unrelated to the Arbitrum Orbit platform, Arbitrum Foundation, or any other Arbitrum services. Promoted on 2024arb[.]xyz, the scam could also appear on other sites. Victims are asked to connect their digital wallets, exposing them to scripts that drain their cryptocurrency into scammers’ wallets. Such transactions are often vague and can go unnoticed for extended periods; I discovered mine almost 10 hours later. Luckily, I recovered 402 BTC to my Exodus wallet and am waiting for the Ethereum gas fee to reclaim the rest into my Coinbase. If your funds are inexplicably missing, this scam might be the cause.
